I’ve never run in my life.
Can I participate all the same?
First of all, that’s not true: you’ve surely run in your life. Everyone runs at least once in their life.
Second, this race is first and foremost a personal challenge and a mega-outdoor happening. We won’t lie to you: it’s no walk in the park, but we’re confident you’ll make it, even if you haven’t put on running shoes since the 1980s. Imagine how proud you’ll feel when you show your medal to your family and friends. Yes, just as we thought. So go ahead and sign up!
What are the obstacles along the course?
Hmmm. This is a bit like asking your teacher what questions will be on the exam. We can’t really answer. What we can do, though, is encourage you to prepare to encounter varied terrain, to practise jumping, crawling, and carrying things, and most important, to train your eyes to see in the dark. You can ask your cat to help you with that last one.
How long will it take me to complete the race?
As in a marathon, some people are running machines: they might complete the race in 40 minutes, while others might take 2 hours to reach the finish line.
Our best guess is that it will take you between 40 minutes and 2 hours, depending on your fitness level.
What services are available on site?
There will be assembly zones at the start and finish lines with food vendors, exhibitor booths, a kids’ challenge area, a post-race rest area, and other activities. The cafeteria and bar will be open all night, and there will be lockers and washrooms on site.
Can I participate as a volunteer?
Now that’s a great question, and the answer is YES, we’d be delighted! The success of events like this one depends to a great extent on group effort and teamwork. Volunteers are a precious commodity, and we’re thrilled to know that you’d like to give us a hand. Visit the “Volunteer” section of our website to find all the information you need to join us as a super-generous-unbelievably-wonderful-and-fantastic volunteer.
I registered, but now I won’t be able to race. Can I get a refund?
We’ll start by saying we’re sorry to hear you won’t be joining us; we were so looking forward to cheering you on! But we understand that sometimes stuff happens that’s beyond our control. Unfortunately, we don’t offer refunds.
However, for a $10 fee you can transfer your registration to someone else. If you decide to do that, please send us the registration information for your replacement as soon as possible, by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The fee for registration transfers on site, on race day is $15.
What do I get if I finish the race?
Our eternal gratitude, which is truly priceless. Well, you also get a medal and a shower of congratulations from your family and friends, but our gratitude is worth so much more … That’s what we think, anyway.
Will there be medical assistance on site?
Our priority is not so much that you finish the race as that you finish it in one piece. If by some misfortune you are injured along the way, don’t panic: take a deep breath and wait for the medical team to show up, like a squad of superheroes, and rescue you.
Do I have to pay for parking?
We hate to be party poopers, but yes, you’ll have to pay for parking. Mind you, it costs only $5, so it probably won’t put too much of a strain on your budget.
If I have more questions, whom should I contact?
Drop us an email at email@example.com and we’ll be happy to answer you personally. You could also send us your questions via passenger pigeon, but the success rate has been pretty low these past few years, and response time can vary from a few years to a few decades.
